DEW Engineering and Development ULC is recognized as a successful defence company that provides their customers with total solutions for vehicle armour innovation, platform integration and large-scale manufacturing.

DEW's 125,000 square foot Ottawa, Ontario facility houses their headquarters, R&D, ballistic test range, engineering, prototyping and general manufacturing. The Miramichi, New Brunswick facility is a 90,000 square foot building that underwent renovations to create an optimal open space to house armour production and repair as well as overhaul operations.

NEC’s award wining SV8100 platform has been installed in both their Ottawa and Miramichi locations, replacing aging Mitel and Nortel systems. Both systems are networked through their existing WAN - enabling users to communicate between offices simply by dialing an extension number. NEC’s built-in Conference Bridge has allowed employees and customers easy, secure, anytime audio conferencing. ROI on the Bridge was realized in just a few months.

Unified Voice and Data Inc. has been awarded a contract to replace Heritage College’s aging Mitel system. UVD will be installing a new NEC SV8100 system. The system will initially will be deployed with approximately 175 Desk Terminals and NEC’s IP DECT Wireless solution including 12 Access points and 16 G355 Wireless Handsets.

UVD will also be upgrading the College’s current AVST CallXpress Voice Mail system to the latest release. The upgrade will allow the College to take advantage of AVST’s award winning Unified Messaging and Speech solutions.

Huawei’s Kanata R&D centre will be relocating its offices to 303 Terry Fox Drive and Unified Voice & Data Inc. will be installing NEC’s award wining Univerge SV8100 Telephony solution. Huawei is primed for growth and required a new facility to house its local employee base that is anticipated to grow from its current head count of approximately 85 to over 250 with-in the next few years.

While researching different solutions to replace their current Nortel solution, it was decided that a pure IP solution would be best suited to support the current and future requirements. They also required a robust and flexible voice mail system that would accommodate the anticipated growth.

Unified Voice and Data Inc. will be installing AVST’s CallXpress 8.1 Unified Messaging system. Huawei will benefit from AVST’s unmatched reliability and future proof platform that has allowed customers from systems installed in the 90’s to upgrade to today’s technologies while maintaining a very high percentage of their initial investment.

Introducing CallXpress 8.11

AVST's newest release is designed to facilitate a seamless migration for Kinesis and Repartee for Windows customers to CallXpress 8.11.

  • Migration Wizards for Kinesis and Repartee for Windows – The migration wizards allow Kinesis and Repartee for Windows customers to easily transfer data, such as; user names, phone numbers, greetings, security codes, messages and system distribution lists.
  • Unified Messaging for Microsoft Exchange 2010 – Full support for Exchange 2010. CallXpress 8.11 uses the Exchange Web Services API to synchronize messages, message waiting indicators, calendar, and contact information. It is no longer necessary to install a CallXpress component on the Exchange server, beginning with Exchange 2010.

AVST and NEC Corporation of America (NEC) have announced a long-term strategic technology relationship including the integration of Active Voice, a division of NEC, into AVST. In addition to seamlessly integrating AVST's CallXpress® Unified Communications (UC) platform with NEC's world class IP telephony and UC solutions, AVST will continue to manufacture, support and enhance specific Active Voice product offerings for NEC, its channel partners and the independent Active Voice channel.

AVST Showcases CallXpress 8 at NEC Users Group Conference

Bellevue, Wash., May 17, 2010 – Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) is demonstrating its CallXpress® 8 Unified Communications (UC) solution at the annual NEC Users Group Conference this week at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue, Wash. AVST is spotlighting its CallXpress platform emphasizing its powerful features and support for NEC’s products.

Having recently announced a strategic technology relationship with NEC, AVST will be on hand this week to meet with NEC users to demonstrate the unique capabilities of CallXpress and its integration with NEC’s product portfolio. CallXpress supports NEC telephony switches with up to 10 integrations on a single CallXpress system. In addition, NEC has integrated their MA 4000 with CallXpress to provide system administrators with a single application to manage user information across multiple communication applications.
